I want to preface this whole post by saying, I don’t have many tank tops in my closet. I have TONS of Ogden Camis for wear and knit store bought camis for underneath tops, but not many tank tops.
I believe it’s because I’ve never truly been able to find the right fit from a tank top. The neckline was always too low in the front or the back, or the armscye wouldn’t hit at the right place for me. (dramatic voice) but everything changed when I made this tank top.
Seriously though guys, the Victory Tank top by Chalk +Notch is the next thing to genius. It’s amazing in fit, the neckline is so flattering and it’s one of the most versatile pieces you’ll put in your handmade closet. You can read more about it HERE.
First off, this pattern only takes a yard of fabric, one yard for the shell and another for the lining (scrapbuster!). Now, the full lining is the amazing part because this allows your garment to be pretty much reversible, two garments in one!
The pattern comes in two cup sizes, A/B and C/D with the latter option having side bust darts. There are two back options and length options as well. I chose view A length with view B back option and it came out stunning.
My skirt is the Roma Midi Skirt by Halfmoon Atelier which is the perfect summer staple for your wardrobe and so easily worn with any garment. It’s an easy and quick sew too!
The Fabric is a gorgeous deadstock viscose crepe found HERE at La Mercerie. The hand is similar to a thicker silk or satin and the feel is luxurious and drapery. I lined with a mustard rayon challis.
The fabric for my Roma skirt is Avery Slub Linen in mustard also from La Mercerie. Let me tell you! This fabric is like BUTTER in its hand and feel. It’s linen mixed with viscose and that’s just the perfect combination. I purchased these fabrics to go together on purpose because they compliment each other tremendously. I’m so glad I did!
The skirt brings its flattering to the hips, easy pencil shape and is complimented by the drape of the a line shaped tank top. The pencil skirt brings enough in color and design to jazz up the outfit while bringing attention to and not overshadowing the tank top. This tank top is easy in its style and effortless in its wear to be paired with anything, making it classify as a staple piece.
Paired with brown loafers and simple gold earrings to accent and not overaccessorize.
Right now you can get the Victory Tank Top on sale from Chalk + Notch until Monday (no code needed). Be sure to make this gorgeous tank an addition to your pattern collection and future capsule wardrobes!
