Here’s a secret, I’ve never owned a little black dress. You know the classic little black dress that’s in your closet for every formal occasion or date. Nope, never had one. That being said, I did recently make my first little RED dress and it is spectacular. Let’s talk about it!
This fabric is a rayon /linen blend from LA Finch Fabrics and it is amazing!!!! It feels so luxurious and has a great hand to it. Washing it on cold in the delicate cycle made the texture even better, giving it a worn in feel and look.
The fabric has a slight structure to it from the linen but is then topped with some amazing drape courtesy of the rayon. You get two awesome drapes in 1 amazing fabric.
This fabric just came back in stock and you can find it HERE in red, and also search their website for other colors like olive green, white and black.
Vogue 9355 caught my eye from my Instagram friend Abolaji who had it in her stories. I immediately loved the idea of the dresses on the front and went to my local Joann when they were having a sale and bought it quick.
I made view B and it was pretty straight forward no issues. The hip is fitted but not tight at the thighs so you have plenty of wiggle room. I did the next size up for the hips and elimated the bodice darts for some looser comfort.
This look is nothing TOO special. Off the shoulder looks require delicacy with the earrings so that the attention is drawn to the neck, collarbone and shoulders. That being said I opted for these beautiful floral resin gems from Amazon found HERE). The back hook part is long which adds to the delicate overall look of these classy earrings.
I also paired the look with some animal print short block heeled sandals to give it some subtle pizzazz, also from Amazon (found HERE . The fabric speaks wonders but the dress is a force to be reckoned with on its own. Guess I know which pattern I’m making my little black dress from!
What about you? Do you have a little black dress or a little red dress? Would you try this pattern? Let me know in the comments!
